With respect to Black health, it is time to acknowledge that the body of someone of African decent is different in how it responds to nature, to medical interventions, and to food. There are scientist who know this! Now it is time we empower ourselves with this information! For hundreds of years, we have been viewed differently but medically advised and treated as if we are the same. We have been used as test subjects and disregarded as if we are some anomaly that will eventually go away.
We have been continually treated as if something about who we are is less than or against the norm. Any acknowledgments of differences have been met with “do we have to make this about race”. These discussions of genetic differences have also been used to champion the superiority of one race of people over another. We are all on this planet together with a chance to work in harmony for the common good of all. We are all unique and that is a wonderful thing! We will learn about, celebrate and champion our physical and cultural uniqueness!
We will do it proudly! Not because we hate but because we LOVE. We will celebrate and champion our difference and our BLACKNESS. The one thing that cannot be denied is that self-love CAN NOT give rise to hate. Only Love can come from LOVE. Loving our communities, defending our rights, and researching our way to good health can only help bring about balance to the world. The time to do this is NOW! Join us on this journey of OUR BLACK HEALTH.
